How to Be Ready for Moving Day

Are you preparing to move house? There is usually a lot going on in your home on the moving day. You have movers crisscrossing the house carrying and packing stuff. The kids are running around both excited and nervous about what’s to come. You may also have friends over helping with the move. It can be a dizzying affair. There is a misconception that packing for a move always has to be a grueling task. There’s nothing further from the truth. With proper planning and preparation, it can actually turn into an enjoyable task for the whole family. Here how to go about preparing for a move.

1.       Wake Up Early and Be Ready for The Movers

In as much as you agreed on a time of arrival with the moving company, it is advisable that you wake up early enough and get yourself ready before they arrive. If you have kids, wake them up early enough as well. This way. You’ll have enough time to shower, have breakfast, and finalize with any packing that had not been done. The last thing you should allow is for your movers to wake you up.

2.      Charge Your Electronics

It is important to charge your electronic devices before you start the moving process. You may need to use your laptop or mobile device to contact a service provider or your spouse. Having these devices go off during the move can cause a lot of inconveniences. Ensure all your electronics are within reach during the moving process.

3.      Dress Appropriately

When preparing to move house, one of the most important things you need to do is dress appropriately for the task at hand. Make sure to consider the weather when choosing clothing items. For example, you can dress warmly if it is in winter. Ensure you dress comfortably because there will be a lot of moving around.

4.      Pack A First Night Bag

When preparing for the moving day, it is important to pack a bag for your first night in your new house. The first-night bag includes a pair of pajamas, chargers for your electronic devices, toiletries, toothpaste, toothbrush, and a change of clothes. The moving day will probably be long and tedious, and thus, you will not be able to unpack and settle into your new home on the first night. An overnight bag makes it easy for you to have an easy first night and morning as you unpack and settle down.

5.      Prepare Food

You will also need to eat on the day of the move and the first night in your new home. Make a point of preparing meals for the moving day and the first night of the move. Making your own food will save you time and money that would have otherwise been used going to eat out on the first night as most people do. It also saves on the hustle of having to find a fast-food or restaurant near your new home.

6.      Carry Your Important Documents in Your Personal Bag

It is important to know where all your important documents are at all times during the moving process. Also, pack your valuables in a private bag and take this bag with you as opposed to keeping them in the moving boxes. This way, you can be sure that they are safe.
